Honami Tanaka is a PhD student in Neurobiology at the California Institute of Technology and a Fulbright Scholar. Before starting her graduate training, she obtained her BA in psychology and biochemistry at Mount Holyoke College and worked as a researcher in her hometown Fukuoka, Japan. She is broadly interested in studying the interactions between the brain, gut, and immune systems, especially in the context of neuropsychiatric disorders. Having worked with underserved communities globally, she is passionate about making medicine more accessible through basic science. She is also actively engaged in STEM and cultural outreaches and enjoy connecting with people through science.
