Ava Polzin is a PhD candidate in Astrophysics at the University of Chicago, where she studies the smallest galaxies to better understand our universe. After graduating from Northwestern University with a BA in Physics, she began an Astronomy PhD at Yale University, earning an MS and MPhil en route before moving to UChicago. Ava is strongly committed to equity in scientific research and education, engaging students from diverse and underrepresented backgrounds in STEM through her SIRIUS B program (siriusb.org), and serving as a Senior Graduate Fellow of the Chicago Center for Teaching and Learning, where she instructs other early career scholars on pedagogy.
