Quang Vu Dao is a second-year PhD student in Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University. He works on ensuring the security of zero-knowledge proof systems in practical deployments, and designing new cryptographic primitives that are resilient to large quantum computers. His research has won a Distinguished Paper Award at IEEE Security & Privacy, and a Best Junior Paper Award at CRYPTO. In the long run, he hopes to build a future where people have greater control over their personal data and can trust the integrity of their digital interactions. Originally from Vietnam, he earned a BA in Math & Computer Science from Columbia University and an MS in Math from the University of Michigan. He is passionate about math and computer science outreach to high school and undergraduate students, both in the US and Vietnam.
