Sandra Manulat is a PhD student in Oceanography at Texas A&M University. Before coming to the U.S. to pursue her PhD, she taught physics to Marine Biology students at the Mindanao State University-Naawan in the Philippines. Although her educational background is in physics, her research there primarily focused on the coastal zone. This and her teaching responsibilities sparked her interest in the ocean and her love for the coastal communities. As a graduate student, she will be conducting research on coastal sea-level changes using both observations and climate model simulations aiming to develop better modeling capabilities for projecting future coastal sea-level changes. She hopes to contribute to sea-level science and collaborate on solutions for vulnerable coastal areas.
