Samskrathi Sharma is a Ph.D. candidate at Carnegie Mellon University trying to unravel contributions of the body’s biological clock and the gut microbiota to sex differences in predisposition to metabolic diseases like obesity. After graduating from Christ University with a BSc in Biotechnology, Chemistry & Zoology (triple major), she pursued her MSc in Biotechnology & Bioinformatics (double major) from Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology (IBAB), Bengaluru, India. She has advocated mental health, personal safety, and prevention of (substance and sexual) abuse to diverse audiences including undergraduates and children with learning disabilities. She has also worked with ReapBenefit (NGO) to solve water and sanitation problems in underprivileged schools. She enjoys painting, creating new craft pieces, photography, cooking, Bharatnatyam (trained for 8 years) and chronicling different aspects of her daily life and research as comic strips. She strives to lead a research group someday and spread awareness about science and health using comics and paintings.
