Rika Terashima is a dedicated medical doctor with a keen interest in epidemiology and clinical research. She graduated from Gunma University School of Medicine in Japan and served as a resident physician at the Center Hospital of the National Center for Global Health and Research in Tokyo, where she worked on the front lines during the COVID-19 pandemic. Inspired by the role epidemiology played in suppressing the pandemic, she joined Stanford University to pursue her MS in Epidemiology and Clinical Research. Currently, Rika is researching predictive biomarkers for advanced non-small cell lung cancer immunotherapy and targeted therapy. Her goal is to develop innovative strategies to improve patient outcomes and reduce hospital readmissions, effectively bridging the gap between individual patient care and public health. Outside of research, Rika enjoys her new role as a cat mom to an adorable, attention-seeking black cat and is eager to explore more of California’s stunning natural landscapes in the coming year.
