Riku is a Ph.D. student at the Human-Computer Interaction Institute, Carnegie Mellon University. He aims to develop intelligent systems that help people in the healthcare and well-being domain by leveraging techniques from sensing and human-AI interaction designs. Specifically, he is interested in how we can utilize ubiquitous yet imperfect sensing to make reliable assistants for people with special needs, such as post-operative skin cancer patients and children with ADHD. His research has been published in prestigious Human-Computer Interaction conferences and journals like ACM CHI, UIST, and IMWUT with multiple best paper awards.
