Rosemary Zielinski
Australia
Rosie Zielinski is an aspiring theoretical physicist, who graduated from the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Philosophy (Honours). She is fascinated by how the quantitative, logical field of physics is strongly impacted by society and culture, and how we can leverage this connection to create more equitable outcomes for those pursuing STEM. She enjoys and values all areas of physics: ranging from internships at the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization developing tandem solar cells, to investigating computational relativistic atomic physics at the University of Melbourne. She was Vice-President of the ANU physics society, and has been involved in outreach programs including the International Physics Olympiad, Asian Physics Olympiad, Junior Science Olympiad, and the Curious Minds Program. She enjoys playing French Horn in her spare time with the ANU orchestra and various community orchestras around Canberra. This coming Fall, she is excited to begin a PhD at MIT in the Centre for Theoretical Physics and looks forward to developing as a better scientist, and a better global citizen.
